This is Nihei!!
This might come out of the blue, but double-neck guitars are just so romantic, aren’t they!
Back in high school, I watched the Blu-ray of Led Zeppelin’s “Tremors of Passion” live concert. Seeing the double-neck guitar Jimmy Page was holding there—
—“What on earth is this?!”
—that’s my very first memory of seeing a double-neck guitar!
About 10 years later, I never would have dreamed that I’d end up handling double-neck guitars myself!
And not just one—but many.
So,
Believe it or not, an unprecedented number of double-neck models have just arrived all at once!!!!!
Let me introduce them all at once!!
Gibson EDS-1275
Even if you don’t know the model name, if you’re a rock fan, you’ve surely seen this unique guitar with two necks in videos at least once! The EDS-1275 is a double-neck guitar featuring a 12-string and a 6-string neck, and it first appeared in 1958—the golden age of the Les Paul!! Production was discontinued in 1967—less than 10 years later—and during that period, there were years when only as few as four were made. The EDS-1275 was then revived in 1974, and production numbers increased tenfold. I’m convinced that Led Zeppelin played a major role in that revival.
1975 EDS-1275
This white-finish EDS-1275 is famous for being the guitar Don Felder of the Eagles played during live performances of the classic song “Hotel California.”
Since this model was manufactured in 1975, one of its distinctive features is that the headstock is shorter than on models released in the 1960s!

1991 EDS-1275
The EDS-1275 has been used in classic songs by Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, Guns N’ Roses, and others.
Although the headstock size was reduced once in the 1970s, this particular model features a headstock shape restored to its original length, bringing it closer to the original 1960s design!

1996 EDS-1275 Mod.
The bridge has been repositioned further back than standard, and the pickup cover on the 6th string side has been removed—
making this an EDS-1275 modified to be a true Jimmy Page spec!!
If you’re a rock fan, this modification is sure to strike a chord with many of you.
It’ll make you want to play “Stairway to Heaven,” “The Song Remains the Same,” and “The Rain Song”!
