*It is by design that the sound will be low even when the volume level is turned all the way down. Pushing in the lever on the top handle will release the lock and the unit will separate into left and right halves. If you are starting from a disassembled state, assemble the left and right metal parts, pull the lever upwards, and firmly engage them until they lock. (Please handle with care as it is heavy.)
