A historically rare model, but also a great sounding acoustic guitar in service!♪
The Jumbo 55 (J-55) is one of the most popular flat-top guitars in the Gibson Jumbo series, which has a history that dates back to 1894. Jumbo series. The first GIBSON JUMBO was released in 1934, and its spruce top, mahogany sides and back, 14-fret joint, and round shoulder body were carried over to the JUMBO-35 (J-35), which was released in 1939 as the top model of the Jumbo series. The Gibson Jumbo 55 (J-55) was released in 1939. The Gibson Jumbo 55 (J-55) was a rare instrument that was produced from 1939 to 1943 (the period was a time of confusion and upheaval, including the Great Depression that began in 1929 and the World War that followed while the effects of the Depression were still felt). It can be said to be the model that led to the subsequent appearance of the J-45 and the Southern Jumbo.
This model was made in 1941. The neck condition is generally straight, and the string height at the 12th fret is about 3mm for the 6th string and about 2.3mm for the 1st string. The saddle height is 4.4mm on the 6th string and 3mm on the 1st string. There are some crack repair marks on the top (patches have been repaired) and the top is floating, the neck has been reset and over-lacquered, and the head has been retouched, as expected for the age of the instrument. The pegs are hard and have weather checks throughout in an austere manner.
The powerful, fat sound is pleasantly resonant!♪ It has a fat and warm sound, but also very appealing high notes with a high degree of clarity. The neck is thick and period-inspired, but it feels comfortable in the hand and is easy to play. It is a great guitar that can be used for a long time!♪Please consider this guitar.
