The original Governor released in 1988 was made in the UK, while the 1998 reissue Governor was manufactured in Korea.Even among the British-made originals, early units had green circuit boards, while later ones used blue boards. The British-made Governor used Motorola or Texas Instruments TL072CP (or TL072C) op-amps, whereas the Korean reissue uses JRC 072BD (or 072D).Comparing the sound of the Korean reissue to the British original: the British original has a rich, thick sound with abundant mid-low frequencies. In contrast, the Korean reissue has a stronger high-frequency response and gives the impression of slightly less mid-low frequency presence.
