conn-multi-vider-1
CONN Multi Vider

It is an octave bar from CONN, a brand famous as a wind instrument maker!

This is a vintage octave bar, a unique sound-making device developed by C.G. Conn in the 1970s. Originally designed for wind instruments, its distinctive character at the time earned recognition not only from wind instruments (saxophones, trumpets) but also from guitarists, keyboardists, and experimental musicians. The knob at the top right doubles as the main power switch, and each section is adjusted with its own toggle switch and control knob. The toggle switches are labeled from the top as UNISON/SOP/BASS/SUB BASS, but some parts can be hard to tell apart in effect, so it feels like adjusting by intuition. Where the octave is engaged, it becomes something like a thick phase sound. Unlike the precision of modern digital Effector, it has a rough, unpredictable harmonic quality that is more like an analog circuit. It has a unique texture that brings to mind octave fuzz and synthesizers, and gives the sound a singular presence, but because of its fairly unstable operation, it is not recommended for those seeking reliability or accuracy. It is not a model that is especially rare or particularly popular, but a sound that seems to fuse fuzz, octave bar, and filter invites players into a realm that modern gear cannot reproduce. It comes with a holder so it can be attached to a belt for use, and because it has a lightweight, oddly boat-shaped plastic cabinet, it was made with the idea of performing together with a wind instrument. I think it will become a complete collector’s item, and it is also a unit of high historical value.

※ The added mini switch at the top right is unclear in purpose, but if set to the bottom position (perhaps for electric guitar mode?), it lets the sound ring through smoothly even on a relatively electric guitar.

※ By its characteristics, it has almost no response to the high strings of an electric guitar.

※ The power supply is DC 9V, with a mini-jack style connector (the lowest part of the cabinet).

Year: 1970s

Included items: guitar connection plug (mini-jack conversion)

Person in charge: Sano (Sano)

※The warranty period is 1 month from the date of purchase.

【We are currently strengthening purchases (buybacks)!!】We are happy to make high-price purchases of current popular items, boutique/high-end gear, rare items, and minor items alike!
