Cone Vintage Alto Saxophone,Transitional 6MModel. With soft case, made in 1934.
[Condition.]
Extensive lacquer peeling on sides of bell and neck, history of repair of dents in U-tube (shallow dents remain on reinforcement plate). Additional strap hooks have been installed and modified. There is a mark where the pedestal was moved. Overhauled and adjusted with all tampos, corks, and felts replaced.

This was made the year before the 6M, which was put on the market in 1935.Transitional 6Mmodel. Transitional is a generic term for models manufactured between 1931 and 1934, when the 6M was being transitioned from NEW WONDER II. 6M models differ from 6M models in the construction of the neck's octavo interlocking action, the angle-adjustable two-part thumb hook, and the micro tuning device knob design. The 6M is a 6M model with a table key. However, the incoming shipment is commonly known as a transitional 6M with the table keys changed to the same type as the 6M.The sound character is different from its predecessor, NEW WONDER II, and is almost 6M-like.The sound character of the new 6M is almost like that of its predecessor, the New Wonder II. The thick and soft middle and bass tones are similar to those of the 6M. The tone of the treble range is also fine-grained and lustrous. This is a unit where the charm of the cone can be fully enjoyed.
