The Custom Legend is a prominent model from Ovation, known for its distinctive design and sound. founded in 1965 by Charles Kaman, Ovation introduced innovation into guitar design. Using Kaman's background in aeronautical engineering, the company modernized the acoustic guitar by using synthetic composite materials instead of traditional wooden construction. The main goal was to reduce feedback and increase the guitar's durability. This made it an attractive option for live performance musicians.
The Custom Legend itself contributes to its aesthetic appeal with an inlaid soundhole design inserted in Avalon. The same carved shape of the bridge on the Super Adamas is a sight to behold.
This particular model is an "N769 Custom Legend" manufactured in 1992.
Nakao Boeki, the distributor at that time, ordered this gem for Japan.
Natural finish and deep bowl cutaway are the features of this model.
The top wood shining in candy color and the decoration of Avalon are in harmony with each other, and it looks very beautiful.
It is equipped with Ovation's signature OP24 preamplifier, which produces a solid acoustic guitar sound with this specification.
Even when the knobs are turned to maximum, the sound is not as peaky as one might expect, and each bandwidth is raised naturally, making it possible to create an aggressive sound, which is one of the factors that make it so effective in live performances.
There are some cracks on the fingerboard cells, but they do not appear to be peeling off. The area around the soundhole shows some quicksilver chinking, but there are no paint cracks that are common on the body top,
Considering that it was manufactured in 1992, it is in beautiful condition.
