Sitka spruce top, mahogany sides and back, mahogany neck, hakaranda fingerboard and bridge, original tortoiseshell pickguard, original open-back Cruson pegs, long saddle, T-bar rod, non-scalloped X-bracing.
The OOO (Triple O) was born in 1902 as a larger model than the OOO (Double O), which was the largest size until then, and in 1934, production of the OOO with a 14-fret joint began. The OOO is also known as an "auditorium," and is especially useful for recording purposes, as it does not produce as much bass as a dreadnought, but has a better mic response.
This instrument is OOO-18 made in 48'. Fret, nut, and saddle have been replaced from the original. In addition, there are marks on the pickguard, bridge, strap pin installation, and extended endpin area. There are some scratches on the top of the body, but you can feel the history of over 70 years of use. The string height is about 2.6mm on the 6th string side at the 12th fret and about 2.2mm on the 1st string side.
The extremely light mahogany body produces a dry tone with pleasant treble, and the withered nuances of age combined with the core fatness of this age produces a superb vintage sound.♪ This 40's Martin is a must have for anyone who wants to play this instrument.
